more fulfilling life for themselves and their families

1. Go for a walk in the park. If you live in a built up area, find somewhere away from the traffic and crowded areas and spend 5 - 10 minutes reconnecting with nature. Even in inner city areas there is beauty. If there are no trees where you live, take time to really observe the shapes, colours and textures of buildings around you.
2. Create a mental visual image of how you would like your life to be. This is extremely relaxing. Take time to cut out images of clothes you would like to wear, places you intend to visit, activities you would like to do with your family. Just enjoy yourself in the fantasy. Who knows, you may be inspired enough and one day you may visit a place you daydream about.
3. Book a massage. A soothing body massage is the ideal way to release tension and stress from your body.
4. Phone a friend. Someone who you haven’t met in a long time and used to enjoy their company. Speaking with others and catching up on each others lives is a perfect way to spend time appreciating and valuing friends.
5. Practice a few gentle yoga stretches. Yoga poses such as the triangle, seated forward bend or spinal twist give your body a beautiful stretch and help to tone up and improve flexibility. All of which helps you to feel better about your self.
6. Close your eyes and take 3 - 5 rounds of deep yogic breathing. Breathe in through your nose for a count of 4 and slowly breathe out for a count of four. Open your eyes and enjoy the calm.
7. Lie down on your bed. Starting at your feet, tense and relax your toes, your legs, your arms, your buttocks. Stretch your shoulders up to your ears and release, scrunch your face up and release. Then lie still for 10 - 20 minutes as you allow your body to rest and relax into the bed.
There you go, seven simple ways for you to rest and relax your mind, body and soul. Take time during your day to rest. Your body will appreciate it and in the long run you will be more able to cope with the stresses and demands of your day.
